Personal Legends

One of my life missions is to open up a place that will help homeless people with clothes and food, I want to be able to help them fix their lives and help them get their GED and/or jobs. I also want to open up a community center for youth to change their lives and encourage them. I always wanted to be remembered by making a difference in life which is why my professional dream is to become a nurse.

I would open up a nice place for the homeless and have different meals everyday for them. There would be sections where they can make their own scarfs and sweaters to stay warm and even little rooms where they can sleep in. There would be a sign in sheet with as much information they can give about themselves and they would have turns to sleep in the rooms and take a shower; however, every homeless person that comes by will have a meal. I will have professionals programs and computers that will help educate them and I will have many different professionals to train them in different areas and skills so that they could get a job easier and change their lives. Even help them with health insurance in case they need any medical attention. All my life, I never liked to see homeless people in the streets asking for change and sleeping on sidewalks, it always made me very sad. Many people just walk passed them very rudely and it gets me angry because they do not deserve to be treated that way, they need help and best believe they are very grateful for giving them dollar bills.

I would also like to open a place for teenagers and young adults. I have seen too many young people waste their life and go to jail just because they were causing trouble in the streets and opening up a community center or program will avoid some of these problems. I want this center to have different groups, such as, an art group, a music and dance group, a fitness group, a homework help group, and etc. We will create workshops about resume writing and interviewing and help encourage these students to make a difference in our community, schools, and workplace.

Poem

ima get this knowledge
by graduating college
take this homeless mess
and organize it
give them jobs
stop all their probs
become a nurse
help all people
for better or worse
just keep my goals in mind
stay on my grind
time is all mine
so why waste it
when i can taste it
right in front of me
a room full of infinity

Gratitude at work

I work as a cashier at Purple Cactus in Jamaica Plain (yikes). It may not sound so pleasant but the truth is it's not so bad. I find it a great practice to interact with customers and I love meeting new people everyday, I definitely enjoy the part where they smile to me and say thank you for their meals. I also learned how to use a complicated register and how to process payments with cash and credit, which is a pretty good skill to learn. It is also a good way to learn how to deal with upset customers and learn ways on how you fix them.

We are also all one big Purple Cactus family. We all laugh and enjoy each others company and we work together as a team to not only get the job done but to make it easier for each other. I could say that working here is the funnest place I have ever worked in my life, everyone is super nice and cool to talk to and we all get along. We do not mind taking each other shifts when one can not work and we just love to help one another out. This is a huge gratitude at work because we all meet new people and we become a family.

I am grateful for all the things about my job. First of all, I am grateful to even have a job. My job can be stressful because the big boss makes it a bit hard for us and the restaurant gets really busy; however, we together as a team is extraordinary. We all love to laugh and enjoy ourselves like a big family and I am grateful to have such an amazing job with amazing people. In the future, I want to become a nurse because I am a very social person and I love to meet new people. I also want to help people and change others life and working here is a good practice because so many people come in and I take about 500 or more orders a day and its a good way to communicate and meet all sorts of people each day.

Overall, the gratitude at work is the skills I learned, the new people I meet everyday, and the amazing people I work with.
