Simply, Me

My name is Kimberly Roman. My birthday is on May 14,1996. I am 18 years old. I graduated from Brighton High school on June 6,2014. I live in Dorchester. I was born here in Boston and was raised here. I am Dominican and Puerto Rican. My father is Puerto Rican and my mother is Dominican. Spanish was my first language but when I started school they taught me how to speak English and now it's pretty funny how I am better in English then I am in Spanish. Currently, I am in Bunker Hill Community College to major in Nursing and I know it isn't going to be easy but I plan to work hard and get there. I want to be successful In life and I won't stop until I get there.

One of my hobbies is singing. I love to sing, it helps me express my feelings and it's like a stress reliever. I just adore it so much. The only problem is that I don't have the guts to sing in front of anyone. I'm the type of person who just sings in the shower and hides from everybody so no one can hear me. I am a very outgoing person. I love to go out to eat and go to the movies. I love to just walk around when the weather is nice and enjoy nature. I love exploring the world because life is too short to just stay inside and miss out on everything. My favorite subject is English. I love to write. I feel like its also a good way to express how you really feel and it's also a good way to pour your heart out.

My best friend would describe me as trustworthy and crazy because she knows that she can trust me with anything and I won't tell anyone what she told me and also she says I am crazy as in a funny way, we always goof around and enjoy each other's company when we are together. My boyfriend describes me as funny and smart because I always make funny jokes and constantly make him laugh. He says I am very intelligent because I am really good in computers and I am always helping him with his homework and applying to jobs.

My Poem

Keen about school and my future.
Irate when someone tells me I can't do something I believe in.
Masterful in NOT giving up
Bashful when it comes to public speaking and presentations
Eager about becoming a nurse and changing peoples lives
Rare to become one a colored/Hispanic nurse.
Lucky to have gotten this far and being the first to go to college
Yielding when this becomes my career and my life

  1. Kimberly,

Good first post. It is very clear and well written. You have great writing skills. It seems like you've got a great goal in becoming a nurse, and congratulations on being the first in your family to attend college. Sounds like you're on your way to becoming a true leader.

Maybe, this semester, we can figure out a venue where you can sing and shine and share this talent of yours. I used to have the same fear, but I practiced and found the right place and people to sing with. Maybe this class will help you find yours.

Great post. Here are some suggestions:

    1. Be sure to post your pictures right into this post. I see you created a new post for the pics, but go right ahead and put them in here, so that you design a single post that is full of captivating images.

    2. Your acrostic poem is great - very clever. But you were instructed to choose an affirmation to use as your vertical word, not your name. Did you see that doc in the reading list?

This is an excellent start. Always be on point with the instructions, and I am sure you will do very well in this class, if you can hang in there every week.
